A female Dunfermline publican was assaulted when she called time on a drunk customer from Switzerland who wanted to keep drinking.

Thomas Jaun, 34, of Zurich, twice punched the woman after he was told to leave the Creepy Wee Pub in Kirkgate.

The mechanical specialist, who was based in Dunfermline for a fortnight through his work, was apparently not impressed by Scottish opening hours.

His violent conduct resulted in two nights in custody before an appearance in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

Jaun admitted that on October 8 at the pub, he assaulted the publican by repeatedly punching her on the head to her injury.

Depute fiscal Alex Piper told the court that, just before 1am, she had called for last orders.

Ten minutes later, Jaun went to the bar and asked to be served.

He was told the bar was closed and he would have to “drink up and go home”, said the depute.

Jaun then punched the woman on the face before he was restrained and taken from the premises.

The woman followed out behind him and told him he could not behave like that in a pub.

At that, Jaun again punched her on the left side of the face.

Defence solicitor Joshni Roshi said her client had been out eating and drinking with work colleagues that night.

“He is embarrassed to find himself here in court and had two nights in custody because of this,” she added.

Sheriff Chris Shead fined Jaun £450 and ordered him to pay £250 compensation.
