Carnegie Leisure Centre has been praised for its "very friendly" staff and and "excellently clean and fresh" complex in a Visit Scotland report.

Following a thorough inspection of the Dunfermline facility, it was awarded the coveted four-star award for the second year in a row.

The Visit Scotland accolade means the centre, in Pilmuir Street, has achieved an ‘excellent’ rating, recording an impressive score on all aspects for visitor experience.

The inspector's report stated: "I am pleased to confirm your four star award again this year.

"Carnegie Leisure Centre is a super facility, all members of staff were very friendly and the complex was excellently clean and fresh throughout, which is highly commendable considering how busy the centre is.”

The centre is managed and operated by Fife Sports and Leisure Trust.

James Dunbar, the area leisure manager, said: “We are very pleased that Carnegie Leisure Centre has been rated so highly once again – it’s very rewarding for the staff to have their work recognised and that we are delivering a high-standard of experience for our valued customers.

“We will be taking on board all the feedback from the Visit Scotland report so that, where we can, we will implement suggestions and strive to continually improve our facilities.

"Our goal is always to meet and where possible to exceed customer service expectations.”

Overall customer attendance to the centre, which re-opened in January 2012 after a £21 million refurbishment, has increased by five per cent from the same period last year.
