A DUNFERMLINE Indian takeaway has shown that it's king of the curries by winning a top food gong for the third year running.

The Curry Pot in Linburn Road proved a hot favourite after it was again named Scotland's Best Takeaway at the Asian Curry Awards held on Sunday in London.

Delighted owner Abdus Sabur is hoping to curry favour and keep the awards 'cumin' in.

Abdus (53) smiled: “It's the third year we've won the award, beating stiff competition from the major cities in Scotland which is fantastic recognition.

"We're delighted for our customers who nominated us and now they know they are getting the best of the best.

“The plan now is to get even better and go to the top. I feel very proud because we've worked hard for this."

He added: “We have very good chefs, Gajendra Singh and Rajender Sing who are from India and are highly skilled at what they do.

"They work really hard and make everything fresh on a daily basis, including our in-house sauces, nothing is bought in.

"It is hard to find such highly trained chefs in the local area."

Takeaways are shortlisted for nomination to the Asian Curry Awards and then judges inspect the business, scoring marks for health, hygiene, nutrition and quality.

Abdus added: “A big thank-you to all our customers and supporters as well because they had voted for us and have given us this top industry recognition. Our most popular dishes are the saag gusht, chicken saag and palak paneer.

“We're going to put the certificate and trophy up in the shop – we're hoping to get another one next year!”
