Virgin Media have announced that 70,000 premises in West Fife will benefit from the first large scale rollout of ultrafast fibre broadband, connected directly to homes and businesses in the UK.
In what will be a major boost to the local economy, a fibre optic connection will run all the way from the telephone exchange straight to your premises, meaning users will experience lightening internet speeds.
These areas will include Dunfermline, Dalgety Bay, Rosyth and Inverkeithing.
The internet performance will be much faster than the alternative where a copper connection runs from a cabinet to your premises.
It's all part of a £3bn UK-wide investment from Virgin media to reach an additional four million homes and businesses.
Ofcom recently reported that the UK has the lowest proportion of fibre connections running directly to homes and businesses in the developed world and Scotland has the lowest broadband speeds of any UK nation.
It is hoped that Virgin Media's investment will give a further boast to Scotland.
