A DUNFERMLINE man inflicted a catalogue of horrific violence on a string of partners over almost two decades.

Six former partners of James Callaghan gave evidence at his jury trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

They told of their terrifying ordeals at the hands of the vicious thug, with two of them attacked when they were pregnant.

During the course of the trial, three charges were dropped and the jury delivered ‘not proven’ verdicts on two charges.

However, Callaghan was found guilty of seven charges against five different partners.

He told the court all six partners were lying “for money”. He also accused his sister of lying after she gave evidence against him.

James Callaghan, 36, of Izatt Avenue, Dunfermline, had previously been convicted in 2008 of headbutting one of the women, putting her head down the toilet and flushing it. He told the court he had not committed this offence but pleaded guilty on the advice of his solicitor.
