Emergency services have confirmed that nobody was injured after a car set alight on the M90 near Dunfermline last night.
Police were called to the accident at 5.40pm on the Northbound lane between Pitreavie and Halbeath, when a Renault Clio collided into the rear of a BMW 318.
The Clio was completely burned out after firefighters used two hosereel jets to extinguish the blaze.
One lane of the motorway was closed causing major tail backs for commuters at rush hour.
Traffic quickly built up within minutes of the collision blocking parts of Dunfermline and Rosyth.
Amey officers assisted traffic while the lane was closed and police opened all lanes back up at 6.20pm.
