DUNFERMLINE Round Table are looking to give a helping hand to local charities and good causes following the success of last year’s Dunfermline Beer Festival.

The October event, where the Press is media sponsor, raised money for Dunfermline Rugby Club's youth section and Dunfermline Round Table with the latter set to hand over more than £5,000 to worthy beneficiaries in a Dragon’s Den giveaway.

It will be held at Garvock House Hotel on Thursday March 23.

Dominic Collings, former Round Table chair, said: “It takes a few months for all the invoices to get paid which reveals how much we have to give away.

“This year we have in excess of £5,000 in the pot. What we are looking for are charities or other good causes with a specific goal, target or project in the region of £1,000.

“Invited candidates will be expected to bring along a five minute power point presentation outlining what their charity or cause is about and what they need the money for. We then deliberate and carve the pot of money up in a way which we think appropriate.”

A firm favourite in the town's calendar, the annual beer festival is organised by the Round Table and Dunfermline Rugby Club and includes a huge array of ales and ciders to try, as well as entertainment and food.

The closing date for this year’s applications for the Dragon's Den is March 10. You can apply via the Round Table’s Facebook page or through their website dunfermline.roundtable.co.uk.
