THREE teenagers have been charged by police for setting off flares at Dunfermline Athletic's Scottish Cup tie with Hamilton earlier this month.

At least two devices were set off amongst the visiting supporters during the game on February 11, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

One flare was set off after the visitors scored to level the tie, and officers quickly identified three males in connection with the incidents.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police in Dunfermline has charged three men aged 16 from the Hamilton area with culpable and reckless conduct.

"The incident occurred at the Scottish Cup tie between Dunfermline Athletic and Hamilton Academicals on Saturday 11th February where a number of smoke devices were set off.

"Nobody was injured during this incident.

"A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

A group of supporters from Hamilton were also alleged to have caused issues for drivers before the match.

Witnesses saw a crowd hassling drivers near to the Kiwk Fit garage on Halbeath Road having made their way from Dunfermline Queen Margaret Station.

Dunfermline went on to be knocked out of the competition three days later at Hamilton's New Douglas Park after losing a penalty shoot-out.
