REDISCOVER the joy of football and help raise money for charity with a talk in Dunfermline with the author Daniel Gray.

He'll be reading from his latest book, 'Saturday, 3pm', at the Old Inn pub in Kirkgate on Wednesday April 26 in aid of Cancer Research UK.

In an age of overpaid players, Sunday lunchtime kick-offs, absurd ticket prices and non-black boots, the Middlesbrough fan's new tome includes '50 eternal delights of modern football' and reminds us all why we love the beautiful game.

Praised by Archie MacPherson and featured on BBC Radio Scotland's Off the Ball, the book is packed with short essays on the little delights of our favourite sport, such as the sound of the ball thudding against the bar, listening to the results coming in on the wireless while stuck in traffic, autograph hunters and spotting a stadium from the train.

Organised by the Cancer Research UK Dunfermline local committee, proceeds from the event go to the charity.

It kicks off at 7.30pm and you can get tickets, priced at £5, by calling Lorraine McRoberts on 840899 or emailing lorraine.mcroberts@gmail.com.
