A HIT AND RUN incident at Robertson Road in Dunfermline has left a young family out of pocket.

Police said this week that a driver had been charged after a car crashed into two parked cars on the street at 6.15pm last Friday.

Jamie Cummings, 33, who is registered disabled, says he is now essentially stuck in the house after his Astra was written off by the damage.

He told the Press: “I drove my car onto the side of the road so I was ready to just pop my two year-old daughter into her seat. When I returned to the house I heard a loud bang and some car alarms had been set off.

“My car had been pushed onto the pavement by the hit and my neighbour’s car had also been damaged.

“It’s probably going to take weeks for the insurance company to sort out but the payout is not going to cover the finance left. I’ve really been left out of pocket.”

Jamie, who lives with his partner, Paige, and two daughters, has lost his mobility due to compartment syndrome in both of his legs.

He added: “I just had surgery in January so I’m especially reliant on a car at the moment.

"Our neighbours have been lovely and have offered to give us lifts but I’m basically stuck in the house. I can’t even take my daughter to nursery.

“The point of contact from the crash is exactly where my daughter’s car seat is so it just doesn’t bear thinking about what could have happened if she was in there just a few minutes before.”
