A NIGHTMARE journey for a disabled wheelchair user left her feeling humiliated after she took an anniversary trip to Edinburgh last Saturday.
Vanessa Gallagher, 46, from Charlestown, has lived with a neurological condition for the past 20 years and was off to celebrate her wedding anniversary when the wheelchair lift on two Stagecoach buses failed.
After a delay on the way there, unbelievably on her journey back the lift on another bus failed as well, leaving the Gallaghers stuck at the bus station for nearly five HOURS.
Her video of the experience documents firemen having to lift Vanessa off the bus at Edinburgh bus station.
The former office manager said: "Some women get flowers, I got swept off my feet by men in uniform, but silver lining aside, this was one upsetting, humiliating, distressing, degrading and painful anniversary present that I could have done without."
