A SCOTLAND fan from North Queensferry was the butt of jokes after he followed through on a promise to immortalise a Scotland striker on his rear.

Callum Strang, 22, was fuming to see manager Gordon Strachan turn to Chris Martin in the search for a late winner against Slovenia on Sunday night.

He vented on Twitter: "Chris Martin coming on. Strachan playing for a draw again. If he scores the winner, I'll get Viva la Vida tattooed on my a**e. #Coldplay."

In a moment of contrasting emotions for Callum, the Hampden Park crowd went wild as Martin beat Slovenia's backline with only a few minutes of the game remaining to net the pivotal strike in the 1-0 win, consigning the Bayside supporter to his fate.

The landscape gardener told the Press: "He didn't have a great game against Canada so I just joked that he was never going to grab the winner. I never expected it to actually happen. The reaction online was instant.

"As soon as the ball hit the net my phone was pinging every second. It was sheer elation when we scored but I just burst out laughing as I knew what it meant.

"I was watching the game with family and my mates who all started laughing as well and they would have marched me down to the tattoo studio there and then if they could've."

He has no regrets over his cheeky tweet that thousands caught wind of so quickly and he suggested that he could be in store for another tattoo if the target man nets yet another winner as Scotland battle England in June.

He joked: "I'm recovering from it now but it's still a little tender. I might need to get a portrait of him if he scores against them – you never know what can happen! If he keeps scoring, I may as well turn into Chris Martin!"

Callum had the words: "Chris Martin, Viva La Vida, 1-0, 26/03/17," tattooed on his right cheek by Andy Syme at Crossroads Tattoo Studio in Rosyth, and the studio owner said: "It was all very surreal. He'll maybe think twice before posting something like that again online!"

Martin himself responded to Callum's inking in a video in which he said: "Just wanted to say fair play for going through with the tattoo. You're a much braver man than me. I dread to think what the next challenge will be if I manage to get a goal against England."
