AUDIENCES at one of Europe’s most contemporary concert halls are to receive a world-class user experience thanks to a Dalgety Bay firm.

Exterity, in St David's Drive, have teamed up with the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany, to provide live acoustics for music lovers, as well as an innovative digital approach to broadcasting within the venue.

The tech business, which has partnered with The Open golf championship for six years, helps companies create and define their own internal television service specifically catered to their users’ needs.

Considered to be a leading provider of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), Exterity provide HD quality content to facilities across the world, with the Elbphilharmonie joining the list of venues using their technology, including the Emirates Stadium in London and Celtic Park in Glasgow.

The video system will help the delivery of live stage performances in the building as well as the placements of advertisements.

It will also aid performers to manage their schedules and power 30 TV channels backstage to more than 120 display areas, ticketing counters and the foyer.

The system is tailored to the needs of the hall, with ticket information for upcoming shows on display during intermission.

Colin Farquhar, CEO, said: “Stage managers have a difficult role to play in the smooth running of live performances, and we are proud to be helping them use technology to manage all areas on performance day.

"Using our IP video solution, they can easily switch channels to ensure that artists are coming on stage at the right time, that there are no technical or design issues and that the security cameras work effectively and conform to health and safety legislation.

"We are very impressed that the Elbphilharmonie has become a world-class venue that caters to a wide range of performances, and we are proud that our technology – integrated with the solution from our partner PMS (Perfect Media Solutions) – is supporting this state-of-the-art venue.”

Stefan Pagenkemper, CEO of PMS, feels the two firms combine well and said: “Exterity was chosen because it offers one of the most reliable IPTV solutions on the market and the company’s open standards technology enables easy integration with other systems, including PerfectShow, PMS’s digital signage software.”

“The unique challenge in this project was the set-up of dynamic rights management to allow operators to set viewing permissions for every user and display throughout the day.

"The combination of the Exterity IP video system and PerfectShow made this possible using an intuitive user interface for the daily routine with a content management backend.”
