A 29-YEAR-OLD Rosyth man has been accused of killing a woman and seriously injuring a pensioner and two young children in a high-speed car crash.

Brian Hampson is alleged to have caused the fatal crash by driving at excessive speed and trying to overtake on the wrong side of the road.

It is alleged that Hampson drove dangerously and lost control of his vehicle and that the collision with an oncoming van killed his passenger Kimberly Robertson, 31.

Hampson, Queensferry Road, Rosyth, appeared in private at Perth Sheriff Court today (Friday) to face a petition alleging he was responsible for his partner's death.

The petition alleges that Hampson drove his Honda Civic dangerously on the A9 Perth to Inverness road, near the Perthshire village of Luncarty, on October 13 last year.

It alleges he drove at excessive speed while attempting an overtaking manoeuvre and entered the opposing carriageway after losing control of his vehicle.

Hampson is alleged to have crossed the road into the path of an oncoming Vauxhall Vivaro van which led to a collision resulting in Miss Robertson sustaining fatal injuries.

A second charge alleges that Hampson caused serious injury to van driver Gerald Rogers, 70, and to a five-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl, by driving dangerously.

Hampson made no plea during the brief first appearance in private and the case against him was continued for further examination. He was granted bail.
