A CROOKED courier, who was caught stealing parcels he was supposed to be delivering, has appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

When customers started reporting their goods were not arriving, a test package was used to catch Robert McNeil in the act.

McNeil, 46, of Broad Street, Cowdenbeath, admitted that on August 25 at Hermes, Dickson Street, Dunfermline, he stole a quantity of parcels.

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia told the court that McNeil was a self-employed courier and reports were being received that parcels were not arriving at their destination.

A test package was sent and when a search was carried out of McNeil’s vehicle, stolen items were recovered.

The overall value of the goods, which included sportswear, was £250.

Sheriff Craig McSherry told McNeill his crime was a “breach of trust” and called for reports. He will return to court for sentencing next month.
