PJ MOLLOYS will be packed to the brim on Saturday as Glasvegas headline a sold-out show.

The band are one of Scotland’s biggest success stories of recent years and tickets for their Dunfermline gig were gone within a matter of hours.
Calum Miller, of PJ Molloys, is delighted to have the four-piece play the venue for the first time.

He told Press:ON: “It’s absolutely amazing to have them in. They never play shows of this size normally but they’re doing this as a favour to Calum (Traynor), who they’re good friends with.

“All the tickets were sold almost instantly. They were gone in two hours. We knew that would happen having a band of their size play here.

“We were guaranteed a sell-out in a day. This has been a long time coming. They should be playing in venues a lot bigger than ours and they could’ve packed out any other venue in Dunfermline easily, too.

“They wanted a warm-up ahead of the Bloodstock Festival and they wanted to play PJ’s. That’s massive for us.”

Building on early successes after their formation in 2003, Glasvegas made their breakthrough in 2008 with the release of their self-titled debut album, which debuted at number 2 in the UK album chart.

Performances at Glastonbury, T in the Park and support slots for Oasis, U2 and Kings of Leon soon followed, as did a nomination for the Mercury Music Prize in 2009.

Although not as commercially successful as the first, their second album, Euphoric Heartbreak, in 2011 received positive reviews, as did their third, Later ... When TV Turns To Static, in 2014.

Calum added: “I’ve followed them for years. They were one of the first bands to really use that broad Glaswegian accent and release it to the world. I’d seen them years and years ago in small venues before they were playing massive shows, so to now be able to have them in PJ Molloys, it’s quite surreal."

Doors open at 7pm for those lucky enough to have picked up tickets.
