A POORLY Par recovering from a sick bug was left “starstruck” as he was given signed gloves and a pair of boots by one of his heroes.
John Galloway took his five-year-old son, Macklin, to Marv’s Emporium at East End Park for some lunch to lift his spirits.
The youngster was told by Marvyn Stewart, who runs the shop and tea room, that if he looked out the window he could see the Pars players returning from training.
John was delighted at what happened next and told the Press: “He was proud as punch wearing his new Pars jumper and when he saw the players he ran outside!
“David Hutton leaned over to him and gave him his gloves! He then signed them and went through to the changing rooms and got him a pair of John Herron’s boots, as he apparently leaves them all over the place!
“You really couldn’t buy a day like that. I took him to his first game against Raith Rovers in January (a 2-0 win) and he loved it so much so I got him a season ticket straightaway. We haven’t missed a home game since.
“This just enhanced the experience of being a football fan for him. He was just gobsmacked and starstruck by meeting some of the players and he went running into the house afterwards to show his mum.”
While Macklin was over the moon with his new boots and gloves, John admits he has to resist temptation.
“Herron’s boots are actually my size but I’ve been told I can’t go anywhere near them! Since Hutton stole his boots, Macklin and I were looking to see if he had any on when he came out of the tunnel for the next game!”
