BAKERS from Blairhall Primary School have proved they have the perfect recipe and landed a prestigious award.
As part of an enterprise project, youngsters formed their own business, Blairhall Bakes, and have been serving up their wares to the school community.
They discovered this week that their culinary and businesses expertise have landed them the Social Enterprise in Education award.
Teacher Nicola Bow was "extremely proud" of the children's efforts.
"It has taken real teamwork and has helped develop skills that will be useful to the children as they go through school and on to working life," she said.
"The children invested money they had raised along with funding from the Food for Thought Fund into the business. They had to have a business plan which clearly stated what they wanted to achieve and a vision for the business which was to provide a friendly place for the community to come and enjoy food cooked by the children whilst socialising with other members of the community.
"The children are showing real enthusiasm to continue to grow and develop their business."
Representatives from the school will pick up their award at at a special ceremony at The Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh next month.
