Employment figures are painting a bright picture for West Fife with less and less people claiming jobseekers allowance.

Unemployment has fallen by 17,000 over the quarter across Scotland and West Fife is also following trend with a 17% reduction in the claimant count since last year.

Official figures released today show the number of people in work has never been higher since records began in 1971 and more woman than ever before are employment.

Janet McQueen, Employment and Partnership Manager for Fife, said: "The labour market in Dunfermline is excellent and we've seen an increase in new businesses in the area.

"As always Amazon are now running their recruitment campaign for seasonal workers but other industries are seen huge growth too.

"Construction is booming in Fife due to housing development, hospitality vacancies are on the increase and growth in the care industry is providing a lot of jobs.

"We are also confident that workers on the bridge will move on to new employment without difficulty."

Elsewhere numerous roles with Sky are still available and there is a demand for licensed security officers.

An increase in cruise ships docking at Rosyth and other ports along the Forth mean the DWP are sending applicants for training to qualify for these roles.

The DWP are also recruiting for work coaches throughout Fife.
