‘IF YOU don’t let me pull out your tooth and put it under your pillow, the tooth troll will come to visit you’.

Those were the words of Dunfermline children’s author Daniel Gould, whose youngest daughter was hesitant about letting her dad take her tooth out.

When Daniel created the tale of the ‘tooth troll’, however, she became more than willing.

The story of ‘Connie and the Tooth Troll’ was formed and in one night Daniel had written 10 pages and within a week saw 60 pages realised.

He told the Press: “She wouldn’t let me pull her tooth out so I had to put a wee bit of fear into it!

“I told her that if she didn’t let me do it, the tooth troll would do it instead!”

Daniel’s new book has been illustrated by close friend Grant Menzies, and the twisting and turning tale is coming soon to Kickstarter with 275 books ready to be printed should they reach their pledge target.

The release on Kickstarter has been nearly 15 months in the making and Daniel joked that Grant has had a tough time keeping up with Daniel’s turnover in copy.

“He’s struggled to keep up with me; he’s a wee bit stressed! The book is aimed at all primary school ages whether they have the book read to them or they read it themselves.

“We’re hoping it will be a success so we can go ahead and release a Connie series.

“I’m planning on maybe eight or nine other books that chronicle her life which covers various life experiences you would go through at an early age.

"The first story was easy to write and the second was a wee bit trickier but once you get into a flow I feel you simply get better as you go on.”
