EMOJIS are all the rage with youngsters and a Dunfermline farm is proving a hit thanks to colourful emoji bales.

Visitors to Wester Whitefield Farm are likely to do a double-take when they see purple faces showing laughter, winking and other emotions scattered around the fields.

But the bales put together by George, Gordon and Lee Aitken aren’t just to catch eyes – they’re raising awareness and cash for a children’s charity.

WellChild is a nationwide organisation that provides practical and emotional support to seriously ill children and their families, enabling them to leave hospital quicker and live life in their own homes.

They are being supported by agriculture firm Carrs Billington, who have a store in Kinross, and they have produced the fun purple bale wraps in a bid to top a £13,000 donation made to WellChild last year.

Decorated bales have the chance to win tickets to the charity’s annual awards and Lee, together with fiancée Lisa Tennant, kids Ellie, Robbie and Lilly, and other members of the family, decided to get involved.

Lee said: “We’ve done it for a few years but emojis must be a thing that’s in! We’ve had a few folk come along to get their photo taken and it’s a bit of fun.

“It means we can do something for charity and it gets their name out there, as it’s not one that everybody’s maybe heard of.”
