A LIMEKILNS mum was left speechless when her teenage daughter saved up all year to buy her a plane ticket to Australia to see her brother get married.

To top it off, Mo McCabe returned home from the once-in-a-lifetime trip to find her home had been given a total makeover – thanks to her friends and family.

The mum of three, 47, told the Press: “I walked through the door and the place had been transformed. I was so blown away that I just burst into tears.

“The first thing I said was, ‘Where’s Nick Knowles!’ I’m a single mum with three kids and I work as a pupil support assistant at the local primary school so money can be tight.

"There’s no way I could have afforded to go out to Brisbane to see my brother get married so it’s a big thank you to my amazing daughter, Emilia.

“It seems that my friends were also plotting behind my back! They’ve completely transformed the dining room, kitchen, bathroom and garden.

"My living room was also freshened up and decluttered. I just can’t believe it!”

Daughter Emilia Di Ciacca saved up every penny from her part-time jobs to make sure her hard-working mum was able to celebrate her brother’s wedding Down Under.

The 18-year-old fashion student said: “I work at the local shop and cafe while I study so I would say most of my money from the year has gone towards the flight.

“It was a lot of money but my mum totally deserves it. She’s done a lot for us and we’re a very close family.

"When I told people what I was planning to do, my mum’s best friends came up with the idea to decorate the house.

"They’ve known she’s wanted to revamp it for quite a while now! I am so glad I saved up because I can’t imagine my mum missing her brother’s wedding.”

While Mo was away for a week, friends, family and volunteers were all busy at work hoping their months of planning would pay off and they could transform the Limekilns family home before she stepped off the plane.

Friend Lesanne Drummond said: “Mo caught an early-morning flight and by 8.30am we had dropped her off and stripped the wallpaper so we were absolutely shattered!

“Mo is ‘Miss Independent’ and she doesn’t like to ask for help but she’s been my friend for 14 years and has always been there for me, so myself and our friend, Claire, wanted to do something for her.

“She means the world to a lot of people so she’s totally worth it. She’s not had an easy life and it was actually a pleasure to be able to do it.

"We’re mortified that she’s told the Press though! However, we did enjoy doing it and I hope we can do some more things in the future too.”
