A DUNFERMLINE man brandished a brick and a concrete slab during a disturbance at Lynebank Hospital.

Jonathon Reid, 48, of Headwell Avenue, appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

On July 3 at the hospital, on Halbeath Road, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and brandishing a brick.

He also admitted he shouted, brandished a brick and concrete slab and threatened to throw them at a police van.

Reid further admitted that at the hospital he resisted four policemen by lashing out with his arms and legs and prevented the application of handcuffs.

Defence solicitor Elaine Buist said: “Following his behaviour in the first two charges Mr Reid was sprayed in the face and taken to the ground. He suffers from asthma and there was an element of panic but he accepts he was struggling.

“He’d gone to the hospital in an attempt to get methadone. It had been indicated to him he was being taken off that. He was not himself at the time.”

She added that her client had no previous convictions.

Sentence was deferred for reports until August 16 and Reid was released on bail.
