Five fire crews rushed to tackle a house-fire on Halbeath Road yesterday evening.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the fire at 6.04pm and have confirmed that nobody was harmed.

Student Euan Kai Love was passing by when he saw five fire engines and multiple police vehicles attending the incident.

The 17-year-old told the Press: "There was a really strong smell of smoke in the area and there seem to be quite a heavy police presence for a minor incident.

"It looked to me that the fire service were going to tackle an incident inside the house."

Police confirmed that the incident was a non-suspicious fire and that officers attended for traffic management purposes only.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “At 6.04pm on Wednesday, August 9 the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to reports of a fire at a house on Halbeath Road in Dunfermline.

“Five appliances attended and crews extinguished the fire using a high-powered hose.

“There were no casualties and firefighters ensured the area was safe before leaving the scene.”
