A DUNFERMLINE drug addict who stole a quantity of meat has been sent to jail.
Wiliam Robb, whose address on court papers was given as Gillfillan Road, however his solicitor said he was currently homeless, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court last Wednesday.
He pleaded guilty to a charge that he, along with another, stole meat from The Co-op in Townhill Road on June 26.
Solicitor Lynsay Magro said her client had had drug addictions for well over 20 years and was unstable at the time of the theft.
"He sadly feels he will have more stability with a custodial sentence," she told the court. "This will allow him to engage with addiction services in the prison and also get him sorted with an address."
Sheriff Craig McSherry said there was "little point" in deferring sentence further and jailed him for four months.
