FUNDRAISERS from across West Fife were game for a laugh last weekend as they took on an obstacle course all in the name of charity.

‘It’s a Knockout II’ saw 200 adults and 40 kids compete in teams so they could be crowned kings and queens of the event’s physical trials in aid of Hyperclub.

At Ballast Bank in Inverkeithing on Saturday, spectators also came to enjoy the free event that featured a giant karaoke, 30 bouncy castles, fair rides, army vehicles, owl magic and a free kids’ zone for under-fives.

In first place came Richie’s Reckers, second were The Smurfs and third place went to The Hussy’s. The spirited bunch from the Press proved that it was the taking part that counts.

It was all in aid of Hyperclub, run out of Ballast Bank Community Centre, for children and adults with learning difficulties and mental health problems.

The charity offers educational activities, including karaoke, games and arts and crafts, 30 hours a week but want to extend to seven days a week if they can find a stable home.

Founder Suzie Connelly, who won the Press Heart of Gold award at our Community Champions event last year, said: “We’ve raised £6,000 so far but we’re still expecting a lot more as the teams send in all their sponsorship money, and whoever raised the most will be crowned champion fundraiser.

“We’ve had amazing feedback, particularly people saying it was a great day for the kids.

“There was a fantastic atmosphere coming from everyone involved in the obstacle course and we’ve already got three teams signed up already for next year!

“Everyone had great fun and it was a great team effort!

“We’re still keeping our fingers crossed for the £15,000 total we wanted to raise but I think we’ll definitely have made £10,000.

“A big thank you to every person that came along and participated.”

RE/MAX, sponsors of the Hyperclub, said: “We’re delighted to be a part of the club and help the people who use it.

“It was a great day for the community and we hope you come back next year.”

‘It’s a Knockout III’ will take place on August 25, 2018.
