AN INVERKEITHING man was found to be four times over the limit after a Dunfermline nightclub tipped off police that he shouldn't be driving.

Scott Pattinson hadn't planned to drink at his pal's gig but did so then drove home.

He was stopped after the manager of Harlem nightclub contacted police to say he had seen him getting into a van and believed he was under the influence of alcohol.

Pattinson, 26, of Cleveland Drive, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court after earlier admitting driving in his street on July 22 after consuming alcohol when he had 96 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath which exceeded the legal limit of 22.

Solicitor Peter Robertson said his client showed poor judgement and the experience had been a salutary lesson for him.

"At the time of the offence he had gone out and it was not his intention to drink," he said. "He went to see a friend in a gig then had one drink and then he carried on drinking from there."

Sheriff Charles Macnair described the reading as "significant" and placed him on a community payback order requiring him to perform 100 hours within three months.

He also banned him from driving for 16 months, however, this could be reduced by three months if Pattinson completes a driver's rehabilitation course successfully.
