A MAN posted intimate photos of his ex-partner on Twitter as a revenge act after she had shown friends a video he had accidentally posted online.

Liam Little was angry footage meant for his new girlfriend had been shown to other people and posted the pictures on a fake Twitter account which he had set up.

Appearing for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday, Little, 20, of Townhill Road, had previously admitted disclosing photographs of his former partner in an intimate situation by publishing them on Twitter and, in doing so, intending to cause her fear, alarm or distress.

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said Little and the woman were former partners and, following their break up in 2015, they remained friends and kept in regular contact.

During the course of their relationship, the complainer had sent Little four intimate pictures of herself on the understanding that they were private photos.

These photos were published on the Twitter account with the user name David Mohammed which had been created by Little and his new partner.

"They then came to the attention of the complainer," said Mr Kapadia. "There were 183 people who followed that particular Twitter account and the complainer came to the conclusion that Little must have been responsible for posting these pictures."

Defence solicitor Elaine Buist said her client involved himself in the offence because he was "embarrassed" by the fact the complainer had shown people an intimate video of himself.

"It was something he was sending to his current partner, however, he made a mistake and posted it onto a public forum," she said. "He managed to take it off because the complainer texted and said did you mean to make that public. It came to light the complainer had shown some of her friends and that is why he involved himself in this particular incident."

Sheriff Craig McSherry fined Little £700.
