A COPY of the Dunfermline Press was one of the precious items which youngsters from Milesmark Primary placed in a special time capsule for future generations to find.

The box has been buried in the foundations of the school’s new extension and contains items ranging from photos, a school tie and house captain badges to a copy of their most recent inspection report.

Principal teacher Caroline Kilpatrick said a lot of thought had gone into the contents of the capsule.

“The children came up with the idea that they would like to put a time capsule under the new extension which is being built,” she explained. “They then came up with ideas of what they would like to put in it.

“Many items relating to the school were placed inside. Other items relating to world news and a copy of the Dunfermline Press were also enclosed.”

Work on the extension is around half complete and builders had a break to allow two youngsters, Arran Greig and Liam Stephens, from the Pupil Council, to put the capsule in place.

“It is a little bit of history,” added Mrs Kilpatrick. “The builders were very helpful in coming up with an area that we could put the time capsule into. All the classes were involved and every class got to know and see what was being put in.”
