A Dunfermline woman who was found injured in a garden this morning has died. 

Police have confirmed that a female in her 60s was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy but passed away this afternoon. 

Emergency services attended Izatt Avenue after the alarm was raised at 8am. 

It is not yet known what injuries the woman had or what caused the incident but police have confirmed they are treating her death as "unexplained". 

Detective Inspector Paul Dick said: "We are investigating after a woman found injured in a garden in Dunfermline this morning later died in hospital.

"The woman in her 60s was found outside a property on Izatt Avenue just after 8am, she was taken to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy where she sadly passed away this afternoon.

"Her death is being treated as unexplained and officers are carrying out inquiries in the local area to establish the circumstances, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
