SMASH hit musical Blood Brothers will mark its 30th anniversary in style as the production returns to Dunfermline.

Bill Kenwright’s show started touring in the UK 30 years ago and has received critical acclaim wherever it has travelled.

Written by award-winning playwright Willy Russell, the iconic piece of British theatre has four awards for best London musical to its name, as well as seven Tony Award nominations on Broadway, and the exceptional cast will perform at the Alhambra from Monday, October 23 to Saturday, October 28.

With Lyn Paul returning as Mrs Johnstone, Blood Brothers tells the tale of twins who, after being separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.

When Mrs Johnstone, a young mother, is deserted by her husband and left to her own devices to provide for seven hungry children she takes a job as a housekeeper in order to make ends meet.

It is not long before her brittle world crashes around her when she discovers herself to be pregnant yet again – this time with twins.

In a moment of weakness and desperation, she enters a secret pact with her employer which leads to the show’s shattering climax.

The cast includes Sarah Jane Buckley, Dean Chisnall, Mark Hutchinson, Sean Jones, Adam Search, Danielle Corlass and Tim Churchill.

This epic tale of Liverpool life started as a play, opening in Liverpool in 1983, and ran in London’s West End for 24 years.

Few musicals have received quite such acclaim and the memorable score includes A Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally-charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

Tickets range in price from £19 for rear circle seats to £35.50 for front stalls and can be bought online at: www.ticketmaster.co.uk or by calling the theatre box office on: 01383 740 384.
