The B9037 road in High Valleyfield has been closed due to a fallen tree. 

Fife Council sent out an alert at 7.45am that said the route from Sharps Brae into the village was shut. 

The B9037 connects High Valleyfield to the A985 trunk road. 

Strong winds are battering West Fife, the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia which is making its way across Britain. 

A yellow weather warning for wind is in place until 3pm today. 

The Met Office said: "Road, rail, air and ferry services might be affected, with longer journeys times likely, and some roads and bridges could close.

"Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.

"Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen." 

Chief Superintendent Stewart Carle, Head of Road Policing, Police Scotland said: "We advise all road users to take extra care in what could be very difficult conditions.

"Drivers should also anticipate there may be debris on the road and local flooding due to the debris blocking the drains.
