THE family of a missing Clydebank woman have made a heartfelt plea for her to come home.

Karen Brown was spotted via CCTV boarding a Megabus to London at 8.20am from Buchanan Bus Station on Saturday morning.

However, the 47-year-old was last seen by her husband, Jock Brown, before midnight on Friday, October 13 in their Kirkwood Avenue home.

At a police press conference today, Jock, 48, fought back tears as he pleaded for his wife to come home.

Supported by 22-year-old daughter Jemma, Jock said: "We know you've had a lot on your mind recently and a lot on your plate and we want you to come home.

"Karen, please come home.

“We love you, we miss you.”

It is understood Karen was due to start work at Asda Clydebank on Saturday at 10am, however she did not show up.

She failed to say goodbye to her husband after leaving the house without her handbag, purse and mobile phone.

But when Jock arrived at the store to pick her up around 8pm that evening, staff informed him she had not arrived or telephoned to say she wasn’t coming in.

Police say Karen, mum to Jemma and Chloe, 12, and grandmother to 10-week-old Millie, has never gone missing before.

Inspector David Quinn said: "There's nothing in her life, nothing in her background that would give us any indication why she would leave.

"It's completely out of character.

“We would ask anyone who was on that bus too and who saw her to get in touch."

Inspector Quinn stated that his team are now investigating a second potential sighting by a Clydebank resident on Tuesday at the famous Hamleys toy store in London's Regent Street.

Police are now working with their counterparts in the Metropolitan to establish Karen’s whereabouts.

Inspector Quinn added: "The response to the appeal to trace Karen has been outstanding. Indeed, it was a woman from Clydebank who saw the appeal on Facebook who happened to be in London on holiday who said she saw and spoke to Karen in Hamleys toy store there.

"She helpfully contacted security who have been great in assisting our enquiry.

“It is the footage from the store that we are releasing today. If, however, it is not Karen and you recognise the lady, then please get in touch.

“Our appeal today is for Karen to come home. She is not in any trouble and her family, friends, workmates and her employers just want her to come back safe and well."

Karen is described as white, about 5ft 6in, of medium build, with collar length brown hair and hazel eyes. She was wearing a pink fleece, blue jeans, white trainers and was carrying a green Asda bag for life.

The woman seen at Hamleys, who is believed to be Karen, was wearing a burgundy puffa-style jacket, blue jeans and white trainers and carrying an Asda bag for life.
