A DUNFERMLINE woman’s drunken street assault on another female left the victim lying on the ground in a pool of blood with severe facial injuries.

Laura McArthur, 22, of Clunie Road, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

She admitted that on February 28, at James Street, Dunfermline, she assaulted her victim by repeatedly kicking her on the head to her severe injury.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said McArthur and three friends had been drinking in Wetherpoon’s bar in Dunfermline High Street.

They had gone out for a smoke and an argument had begun between one of the group and the victim.

Later, after McArthur and her friends had been in another pub, they came across the victim again, this time in James Street.

A physical confrontation took place and the complainer was thrown to the ground.

“The accused then kicked her several times to the face and head,” added the depute.

“Members of the public saw the complainer lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

“An ambulance was called and they contacted the police, who found the complainer on the ground. She was drowsy and had a bloody face.”

The victim was taken to hospital where it was found in a scan that she had sustained facial fractures as well as cuts and bruising to her face.

When interviewed by police, McArthur said she could not remember much after leaving Wetherpoon’s.

Defence solicitor Roshni Joshi said her client was already on a community payback order.

“She still has no memory of this incident,” added the solicitor.

Sheriff Charles MacNair called for reports and McArthur will return to court for sentencing on January 8.
