EVER fancied seeing one of Scotland’s most famous sculptors in his pants?

Thanks to an artist from Kelty, now’s your chance.

Celie Bryne spoke with David Mach after one of his lectures in Edinburgh and before she knew it, David had agreed to having his portrait painted.

Mach is a Turner Prize nominee who has exhibited across the world and featured a Brexit-themed piece in Dunfermline at Fire Station Creative as part of the four-day Outwith Festival in September.

Celie’s work is now on display at Fife Space Galleries at Lochgelly Centre as part of an exhibition with fellow Fife artists, Andrew Parry and Billy Caulfield, who will be showcasing their own work featuring 1950s pop culture and large drawings.

Celie told the Press: “David agreed to the portrait but I told him there was a catch, and that he had to be in his pants. That got a good laugh from him!

“It was inspired by DJ Vic Galloway, who showed off his leg tattoos in just his underwear. It gave me the idea of ‘Stars in their Pants’. I’ll be doing Vic’s portrait next year.”

The exhibition at Bank Street runs to February. It is open 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday and Saturday from 9am to 2.30pm.
