POPULAR Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons open their new cafe in Dunfermline on Thursday December 21.

The unit at Hospital Hill, previously occupied by Carphone Warehouse, will start trading from 9am.

Kevin Hydes, chief finance and commercial officer of the Tim Hortons franchise in the UK, said: “We’re thrilled to announce we’re opening in Dunfermline.

"The excitement levels in Scotland following our last four openings have been sensational, and we’re confident this will continue as we spread the Tim Hortons joy across the nation.

"We have some fantastic Scottish Tim Hortons fans and we’re looking forward to welcoming them to our Dunfermline restaurant for our signature freshly brewed coffee and iconic baked goods."

The goods on offer include the chain's signature Timbits, bite-sized doughnuts which come in a variety of flavours.

Tim Hortons was founded in 1964 by its namesake, a top professional ice hockey player who wanted to create a space where everyone would feel at home.

They now have more than 4,600 outlets.

One of Canada’s most iconic brands, nearly eight out of 10 cups of coffee sold across Canada are served in one of their outlets.

Tim Hortons opened their first UK store in Glasgow's Argyle Street in June, with hundreds of hungry customers forming large queues outside.

The expansion into Dunfermline continues a nationwide rollout plan with more locations across the country to be revealed over the next couple of months.

The new cafe at Hospital Hill will employ seven full-time and 10 part-time staff and there are a range of roles still available.
