DUNFERMLINE Comic Con is now regarded as one of the finest in the UK and it's back in March.

Its reputation has grown each year with thousands of comic book and graphic novel fans set to descend on the town.

This year’s convention, in the Glen Pavilion on Saturday March 3, is set to be the biggest to date with more guests, artists, writers and stalls than ever before.

Alby Grainger, owner of Little Shop of Heroes, told the Press: “Everything is bigger this year. We’ll have 160 tables and 30 guests from not just the UK, but from countries like America and Russia, who we’re flying over to be a part of this amazing event. Our reputation has grown enormously and the response we’ve had has been fantastic. It shows we’re going in the right direction.

“It’s fantastically rewarding to have international guests wanting to visit Dunfermline, meet with the fans and sign copies of their books.”

With the marquee growing in size, the Star Wars Zone has also expanded. Fans of the franchise will be able to get up close and personal with Jabba The Hutt, BB-8, R2-D2, the Speeder Bike from Return of the Jedi and a Wampa.

As always, the convention will host panel events, signings, interactive attractions, comic drawing classes and the famous cosplay competition.

Tickets are on sale now, with 10 per cent going towards the Little Shop of Heroes literacy outreach programme, which will see secondary schools in Fife receive a supply of books from the shop.

Alby commented: “We all strongly believe in reading to improve your way of life. It’s culturally important and we feel if we can help young people make reading a habit, then we’ve made a difference in some way.”
