Police have confirmed that a body was removed from an address in Dunfermline last night (Wednesday).

However, a Police Scotland spokesperson told the Press this morning that the sudden death "does not appear to be suspicious".

There were reports of police activity at Hill Court, off Halbeath Road, throughout the day on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses living close to the street, which is near to Dunfermline Athletic's East End Park ground, say police officers first appeared at the scene around 10 o'clock yesterday morning.

One neighbour told the Press: "Three police cars arrived about 10am and officers have been there all day.

"A white van then arrived and it looked like forensics were there.

"A body was then taken away within the last hour."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Dunfermline are investigating following the sudden death of a 54-year-old man on Wednesday 17th January in Hill Court, Dunfermline.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
