A MOTORCYCLIST has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a road accident in Kelty this afternoon.

Fife road policing officers are in attendance at the scene on Main Street following a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle.

The incident happened at around 1.05pm this afternoon and the male motorcyclist has been taken by ambulance to Dundee's Ninewells Hospital with serious injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said that inquiries are still ongoing into the full circumstances of the incident.

The Kelty Bridge end of Main Street will remain closed for the forseeable future while collision investigations take place.

Earlier, police urged motorists to avoid the Main Street, Oak Street and Seafar Drive areas, and use an alternative route, following the collision.

Emergency services were soon on the scene, with social media posts reporting that paramedics and an air ambulance were also in attendance.
