AN ARRAY of family fun and entertainment will be on offer this weekend at Dunfermline’s sixth Fresh Air Festival.

Taking place in the Public Park on Saturday between 12-4pm, organisers are hoping to make it the most popular yet. The hugely popular grass sledges are to make a return while Willow Works will be creating a unique sculpture for the park and inviting everyone to join in.

Fife Historic Vehicles will be on hand to show off their amazing collection of vintage cars and motor bikes, with buses and fire-engines nearby to explore, while there will also be a number of sporting activities to experience including tennis, rugby, football, American Football, hockey, basketball and cycling.

At a more chilled pace, there will be birds of prey, magic, tai chi, yoga, chainsaw-sculpting, and face-painting as well as live sounds from the bandstand which will include traditional wind and pipe bands as well as bands from the town’s indie music scene.

Skateboard Scotland will run a competition in the skate park for skaters, scooters and boarders – just turn up and join in – while Inflatable Hire Scotland will have a bouncy safari adventure playground, assault course, archery and laser clay pigeon shooting.

The event will be opened by Jim Leishman and popular Pars mascot Sammy the Tammy will also put in an appearance.

Nando’s will also be supporting the afternoon and offering some tasters and giveaways.

Organiser Jim Stewart, chairperson of Central Dunfermline Community Council, said: “For less than a tenner you can have your face painted or a tattoo, enjoy something to eat, have a pony ride and have a go at grass-sledging.

“There are enough free things to last the whole afternoon and we hope to see you there.”
