A CARETAKER at Broomhead flats was threatened by an angry drunk who had just fallen out with his girlfriend.

The culprit has now been ordered to carry out unpaid work after appearing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

Bryan McDowall, 24, of Carnock Road, Dunfermline, admitted that on February 24, at Broomhead Drive, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing, acting aggressively and making threats of violence towards the caretaker.

Depute fiscal Claire Kennedy said: “The complainer was working at the locus, cleaning the foyer, when the accused came down in the lift.

“They spoke for a short time and the accused became aggressive. He swore and said he would ‘have him’. The complainer contacted the police.”

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said: “He shouldn’t have behaved in this way. He had too much to drink and had fallen out with his partner.

“He then vented his spleen at the first person he saw.”

Sheriff Charles MacNair said: “The complainer was doing his job looking after this block of flats when he was abused by you.”

He imposed a community payback order with 101 hours of unpaid work.
