THE first two images in this week's trip down Memory Lane are from the Press archives and the first photograph shows the tradesmen and apprentices of Chalmers Street coppersmiths, 'Normand and Thomson', filling the Scottish Cup in 1968 with champagne after Dunfermline Athletic won the trophy 50 years ago.

The second image shows the bar in the Opera House in Dunfermline in the 1950s with staff members Bell Dobbie and her daughter, Lizzie Gardiner. The Dunfermline Opera House has since been recreated in Sarasota in Florida.

HE next photograph in this week’s Memory Lane shows Townhill Primary School on winning the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust Cup in 1958.
The Press is supporting an ‘Abbey Lecture’ on Thursday, July 5 at 2pm, entitled ‘A Noble and Spacious Building’ in Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries where people can discover more about this magnificent 900-year-old building. Tickets are on sale online at onfife and from the venue, priced £5.
