OAKLEY Sk8park Group have moved closer to their £100,000 target after receiving a huge grant of £10,000 from the National Lottery.

The sum will help put the wheels in motion for a new and improved skate park facility.

Young people in Oakley have been involved in the design of the project, which has been credited for bringing the whole community together.

Villagers have been championing the scheme and have been working hard to fundraise for the project, which is expected to cost just under £100,000. They’ve been supported by council staff and have raised £6,000.

Fife Council also agreed to funding of £25,000 last month and the project has already received £50,000 from Fife Environment Trust.

The group is also waiting to hear about another bid of £10,000 from the Comrie Colliery Trust.
