A DENTIST travelling home to Glasgow from his work in Dunfermline crashed into two vehicles when an overtaking manoeuvre went wrong.

The accident, near Kincardine, resulted in Sakhar Sherrabeh, 50, appearing in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on January 5, on the A985 at Kincardine, he drove a car carelessly and without reasonable consideration for others by attempting to overtake other motorists when it was not safe to do so and drove towards oncoming traffic, causing his car to collide with two others cars.

Depute fiscal Jennifer Graham said the incident took place at 8.10pm. Sherrabeh overtook one vehicle in front of him successfully and then tried to do the same with a second car.

However, a driver was coming out from a side road and in trying to avoid a collision, Sherrabeh ended up striking both vehicles. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

The court was told that Sherrabeh, originally from Syria, works as a dentist in Dunfermline and also Kilmarnock.

Sherrabeh, of Knowehead Gardens, Glasgow, was fined £450 and had six penalty points imposed on his licence by Sheriff Craig McSherry.
