A WOMAN was punched and knocked onto the road by another female in a disturbance outside a pub in Dunfermline.

The assault followed a disagreement between the women in Coady’s bar, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard.

In the dock was Coleen Barr, 25, of Mackinnon Place, Dunfermline.

She admitted that on December 16 at Pilmuir Street, Dunfermline, she assaulted another woman by punching her on the head, causing her to fall to the ground to her injury.

Depute fiscal Jennifer Graham said the incident occurred in the early hours after one of the women had been told to leave the pub.

Barr and the complainer then became involved in a verbal exchange in the street.

Barr punched her in the face, causing her to fall back into the road. The victim suffered a bump and bruising to her forehead.

Defence solicitor Selena Mackay said her client had been assaulted in the pub.

After leaving, the complainer had been “shouting abuse in her face” before the offence.

“She accepts she assaulted her,” added the solicitor. “It appears to have happened in the heat of the moment. All parties had consumed a lot of alcohol.”

Sheriff Craig McSherry deferred sentence until October 11 for Barr to be of good behaviour.
