FIFE Sports and Leisure Trust have thanked customers for their patience during ongoing disruption caused by upgrades to Carnegie Leisure Centre.

Works are being carried out to the facility's changing village, with the private male and female showers closed for a six-week period.

The public, using the centre in Dunfermline for dry sports, are being asked to make use of temporary private changing areas as upgrades to private toilet and shower areas, including walls, drainage channels and floor tiles, are completed.

For swim and health suite users, the foyer-linked toilets, communal showers and disability changing areas remain fully accessible along with the three swimming pools.

The spa pool remains closed for refurbishment, but all other health suite areas are currently open and unaffected.

James Dunbar, area leisure manager for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, explains: “During these planned maintenance works being carried out by Fife Council’s appointed contractors, centre staff are doing their utmost to minimise disruption to customers – we have worked hard to deliver the best solution under the circumstances.

“We are providing customers with clear information on access and available changing facilities for both male and female users and staff are on hand to answer any queries. We appreciate the situation is challenging and we would like to thank customer for their continued support and patience.

“On a positive note, I’m really pleased to announce that the children’s pool re-opened for business in time for the summer holidays and we are looking forward to welcoming many more families back to the centre again as a result.’’
