A DUNFERMLINE teenager appeared in court after assaulting his mum and dad.
Dale Murphy went to meet his father at Abbeyview Bowling Club but became withdrawn and there was concern about his behaviour.
He began to shout and swear at his father and, while walking behind him, punched him on the back of the head.
After Murphy went back to the family home, he continued to shout and swear. He then grabbed his mother by the hair and repeatedly punched her, causing swelling to her face.
Murphy, 19, of Afton Grove, admitted that on June 12 at Abbey View, he assaulted his father by punching him, and at his home address he assaulted his mother, seized her by the hair and repeatedly punched her on the head to her injury.
Defence solicitor Roshni Joshi said her client was a first time offender and there had been no incidents since.
“I accept these charges are serious but Mr Murphy already works on a voluntary basis and has been doing so for some years trying to get some experience,” she added.
“He is ashamed by his behaviour and he is especially concerned with how his mother thinks about him. His parents are at court and are supportive of him.”
Sheriff Charles Macnair deferred sentence for nine months for Murphy to be of good behaviour. He’s due in court next April.
