THE Pavilion Theatre is back in business.

Staff have returned to the venue and the box office will reopen first-thing tomorrow morning.

The news comes as the road closures affecting Renfield Street and West Nile Street following the Sauchiehall Street fire are expected to be removed at 10pm tonight.

Theatre boss Iain Gordon told the Evening Times it was good to be back.

He said: "It's great to be back in the City Centre. There's nothing like getting back into the theatre and getting back to your own computer."

Iain says everything is on schedule for the Pavilion to reopen on Wednesday, September 5 with Celtic – The Musical.

He said: "There's a lot of work going on in the background."

Iain wished to thank everyone who has shown support since the devastating blaze on March 22.

He added: "The support from our customers has been great – and from people who have never been to the theatre before. That's been very encouraging.

"I think a lot of people have appreciated how we've tried to keep everyone up-to-date. Although a lot of people have been continuing to buy tickets online, a lot of our customers like coming into the theatre to get their tickets at the box office and have a chat with the staff."

The theatre posted a small clip on Facebook, showing fans how things are progressing within the much-loved Glasgow venue.

The post said: "It has been a long time coming as they say, but we are delighted to announce that staff have all returned to the theatre and the box office will reopen to the public tomorrow at 10am.

"Renfield Street will also reopen and this will hopefully help to bring some sort of normality to all businesses. We are not sure what the current plans are for Sauchiehall Street but hopefully, part of this street at the McDonald’s side will reopen in the not too distant future and this will allow access from Buchanan Galleries up to the point of the next exclusion zone.

"We hope that people return to this area quickly which will help all businesses affected by the Victoria’s fire.

"Further up this once great street, things are still unclear for all business operators and the residents and we know how they must all must feel as they are still at the start of this very frustrating journey and really hope that they can keep their spirits up at this time.

"For us, it is back to business, back to doing what we know best so why not pop in and say hello and pick up an up-to-date forthcoming brochure. It would be great to see some friendly faces and again thank you for all the support that we have had over this period.

"Here is just a small clip of how things are progressing at the theatre and we will keep these up-to-date as the weeks and works continue. We hope to see you soon at some of our great shows for the autumn season."
