A WOMAN attacked a policeman after taking offence to officers forcing entry into her home.

Police had gone to Emma Anderson's home to speak to her boyfriend about a different matter when the assault took place.

Anderson, 22, of Broomhead Drive, Dunfermline, previously admitted that on January 29 she behaved in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause fear or alarm in that she did shout, swear and behave in an aggressive manner.

She also pleaded guilty to assaulting a police constable then in the execution of his duty and did repeatedly strike him on the head to his injury.

Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard that officers had gone to Broomhead Drive at around 9.20pm in relation to a separate matter.

Although no one answered the door they knew there were people inside, so they successfully forced entry into the property and spoke with the boyfriend.

However, Anderson became aggressive; shouting and swearing at officers and said: "It's my house, f*** off."

When she wouldn't calm down one of the constables took her into a different room and as he shut the door she hit him on the head, just below the right eye.

The officer sustained a small cut and swelling to his right eye.

Defence solicitor James Moncrieff said officers were there to apprehend his client's partner and she wasn't happy when they forced entry into her property.

He said the relationship with the partner was now at an end and described it as "volatile".

"She accepts that her conduct was unacceptable in the circumstances," Mr Moncrieff added.

Sheriff Craig McSherry said to Anderson: "Police assaults in this court often result in people going to prison, do you understand?"

The sheriff sentenced her to a restriction of liberty order for one month, whereby she will have to stay at her home address between the hours of 7pm and 7am, and a 12-months supervision order as an alternative to custody.
