A ROSYTH man tried to steal items from Tesco worth almost £500.
The scam involved Alexander Vandekamp scanning some items in his trolley but not scanning others at the store at Duloch Park.
Vandekamp, 27, of Parkgate, Rosyth, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He previously admitted that on June 16 last year at Tesco, Turnstone Road, Dunfermline, he self-scanned a trolley containing items to a value of £76.94 and attempted to steal unscanned items in the trolley to the value of £490.58.
Defence solicitor Gordon Martin said this was a failed attempt at theft and that all the items were recovered.
"He had lost his job and was stressed from that and the debts he had to pay," Mr Martin said.
"He was caught quite quickly."
Sheriff Simon Collins said: "This was a significant amount of goods but I am satisfied that I can deal with this by way of a fine."
Vandekamp was fined £270.
